MoU signed for promoting use of organic fertilizers in Pakistan

The Lahore Compost (private) Limited and WWF have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for promoting the use of organic fertilizers with the farmers of Pakistan.
Lahore Compost (private) Limited CEO Hoor Yousafzai and WWF DG Ali Hassan Habib signed the MoU for promoting sustainable agriculture through the use of organic compost with farmers.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Lahore Compost (private) Limited CEO Hoor Yousafzai said: “The project will utilise organic content of MSW, mainly consisting of household kitchen waste, to convert it into compost (organic fertilizer) through a state-of-the-art process of 70 to 90 days.” She further stated that compost is a 100% naturally rich organic amendment used for improving the performance of all types of soils.
WWF Director General Ali Hassan Habib appreciated the work of Saif Group and urged the government agencies to fully support such initiatives. He highlighted the importance of environment-friendly solutions for farmers. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the public and private sector initiative to bring about change in the all important agriculture sector of Pakistan.
