Certis’ Double Nickel Fungicide Registered In California
Date:07-25-2012
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR) has issued a certificate of registration allowing the use of Double Nickel 55 fungicide by state farmers. A product from Certis USA, Double Nickel is a new generation of bacterial biofungicide based on
Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain D747 (Ba D747). The U.S. EPA registered it for use in December 2011. Another formulation, Double Nickel LC, is expected to be approved for use by the CDPR in the near future. Available for conventional as well as organic production, Double Nickel is National Organic Program approved and listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute.
Double Nickel is used to control powdery mildew, Botrytis, and bacterial diseases of fruiting and leafy vegetables, grapes, strawberries, and tree fruit. It protects plant surfaces both above the ground, as well as below. Double Nickel is highly potent, compared to other bacterial-based biofungicides, which allows growers to use lower and more economical application rates. Its formulation resists foaming and leaves no visible spray residue on the foliage or fruit.
