The Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals of Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) has granted the registration approval for carfentrazone-ethyl, a triazolone herbicide, to the applicant, Luzhou Dongfang Agricultural Chemical based in Sichuan province, China. The registration will expire in June 2017.
Carfentrazone-ethyl, introduced by FMC in 1997, is a post-emergence, contact herbicide for application to actively growing weeds. It causes desiccation of leaves resulting in visible injury within 24 hours and plant death within 2-5 days. Carfentrazone-ethyl was intended for broadleaf weed and sedge control in cereals, exhibiting good control over Galium (cleavers), now is used on a wide range of crops. Carfentrazone-ethyl is active against sulfonylurea-resistant weeds.
Total five companies have registered the products in China, including Luzhou Dongfang Agricultural Chemical, FMC, Jiangsu Lianhe Chemical Technology, Shandong Cynda Chemical and Jiangsu Baozong & Baoda Pharmachem.
