EU decided not to grant biocide approval to dichlorvos and naled
Date:05-16-2012
The European Commission has decided not to grant biocide approval to dichlorvos and naled for used as insecticides and acaricides. EU is on the second phase of the 10-year work programme referred to Directive 98/8/EC to review biocidal products on the market. Dichlorvos and naled are on the list of active ingredients to be assessed. Assessments carried out by the rapporteur countries demonstrated that potential and unacceptable risk showed for human health and environment when using dichlorvos and naled. So, EU decided non-inclusion of dichlorvos and naled for product type 18 in Annex I, IA or IB to Directive 98/8/EC. EU noted that biocidal products of product type 18 containing these two active ingredients must no longer be placed on the market with effect from 1 November 2012.
