The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has received an application from BASF Australia Pty Ltd, for registration of its new product Sharpen WG herbicide containing the active ingredient of saflufenacil.
The product is a post-emergence herbicide, which is intended for application as a tank with glyphosate herbicide (Roundup Attack Herbicide) to improve the control of certain broadleaf weeds including fleabane prior to the establishment of fallows, prior to establishing winter and summer broad acre crops and forestry plantations, in commercial, industrial and public service areas, around agricultural buildings, yards and other farm situations.
The APVMA approved the active ingredient of saflufenacil in Feb, 2012 and has invited public comment for Sharpen WG herbicide approval until March,27th. Relevant comments will be taken into account for determining appropriate conditions of registration and product labeling.
