Swiss agro-science company Syngenta held its crop show in Suzhou China on recent days, giving an exhibition of its latest crop cultivation techniques and a vision of future prospects of 9 crops including rice, corn, soybean, cereals and vegetables. This is the first exhibition of this kind in Asia Pacific following Syngenta’s launch of Integrated Crop Solutions in 2011 – an innovative strategy that utilizes Syngenta’s vantage of broad product range via integration of its company-wide resources designed to fulfill the requirement of growers.
According to Zeng Qiuming, Syngenta China Sales Executive, only for cereals (wheat & barley), Syngenta has got 309 kinds of products covering all cereal cultivation processes starting from seed planting up to harvesting. In 2011, Syngenta applied its integrated crop solution in planting of barley in UK, having greatly increased yields to reach a yield rate of 1:3.3.
Syngenta has promoted its integrated crop solution among soybean growers in Brazil, enabling a growth of soybean output by 46 million tons in a year, where farmers describe the growth as “a growth of 65 bags to 108 bags”; so far the implementation of integrated crop solution has reduced an expenditure of US$150 million within Syngenta.
Syngenta is reported to have achieved a turnover of about US$13.3 billion last year, 14% up year on year. Syngenta’s accumulated investment in China has reached over US$300 million; and its sixth R&D center has been established in Beijing.
