The National Institute for Processing Empty Containers (inpEV), the recycling organization in Brazil says that the Field Clean System (reverse logistics of empty pesticide) has allocated more than 200,000 tonnes of container since its operation in 25 states and Federal District in 2002.
The system was formed by farmers, manufacturers represented by inpEV, distributors and supported by the government agencies.
According to inpEV, in December of 2011, 2,035 tonnes of empty containers were removed from the field. The system has collected 34,202 tonnes of empty pesticide in 2011, reaching a 9% increase over the previous year. 15 States had a growth in volume, the major highlights were Bahia, Goias, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo, which together accounted for 73% of the total volume in 2011.
