More registration approvals for nitenpyram in China
Date:12-19-2011
The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has approved more formulation registrations for the neonicotinoid insecticide, nitenpyram. The companies include Beijing Sinopec Yoloo Pesticide, Shan'xi Blog Crop, Jiangsu Lianyungang Liben Agrochemical, Shanxi Sunger Road Bio-science and Qingdao Hailir Pesticides and Chemicals. The main registered formulations contain 10% AS, 10% SL, 20% WG, 80% WG, 50% SP, 20% WP and 50% SG.
Nitenpyram, developed by the Japanese company, Takeda Chemical, is widely used for control of various pests like aphid, rice planthopper, bemisa babaci, greenhouse white fly, leafhopper and thrip on rice, fruit tree, vegetable and tea. It was accepted by more and more growers for its characters of ultrahigh-efficiency, broad spectrum, low toxicity, long lasting efficacy and the safety for crops.
The Chinese patent for nitenpyram has expired on August 1st, 2008. Jiangsu Lianyungang Liben and Nantong Jiangshan are the earliest companies in China who registered and manufactured the active ingredient of nitenpyram. They are also the first companies who were working on research and development of nitenpyram’s formulations. With the banning of high-toxic pesticides such as methamidophos and fipronil, demand for the alternative nitenpyram is heating up in China. Meantime, there are also a constant demand in Southeast Asia, Europe and South Africa.
