A Chinese agrochemical company based in Jiangsu province has received provisionally approval for the herbicide flurochloridone, only for exporting. This is the first approval in China for the active ingredient.
Flurochloridone is a selective pre-emergence residual herbicide of the pyrrolidone group for control of many broadleaf and some grass weeds in sunflowers, potatoes, carrots, parsley, dill, coriander, chickpeas, winter wheat, winter rye, maize and sugar cane. Flurochloridone is taken up by the roots of the plants and is quickly translocated to the foliar tissues in susceptible plants. Germinating weeds are killed before emergence or emerge bleached and quickly die.
Flurochloridone was added to Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414/EEC)in Feb. of 2011. Agan Chemical Manufacturers Ltd., the sole data submitter presented on 10 June 2009 a request to Spain, the designated rapporteur Member State, for a new application aiming at Annex I inclusion of the substance.
