OmniLytics’ tomato canker control product received EPA approval
Date:11-02-2011
OmniLytics, Inc., a biotech company focused on developing safe and natural solutions for bacterial control, announced final EPA registration for its AgriPhage-CMM bacterial control product (active ingredient: Naturally-occuring bacteriophage of Xanthomonas campestris pv vesicatoria and Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato).
Nearly six years since OmniLytics received the first-ever US regulatory approval to use bacteriophage to control unwanted bacteria, the company has again extended its reach into the agricultural space with another crop protectant, AgriPhage-CMM. This new product targets the devastating systemic tomato disease, bacterial canker, and provides a highly effective, environmentally friendly alternative to the use of harsh chemicals. Bacterial canker is a serious tomato disease caused by Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm) and was first discovered in Michigan in 1909, but has grown into a global problem with outbreaks occurring annually.
As with its flagship AgriPhage (Xcv & Pst) products, AgriPhage-CMM can be applied directly as a foliar spray and can be used as a curative on symptomatic plants or preventively prior to visual signs of damage.
OmniLytics has additionally received final EPA registration in conjunction with its original AgriPhage products amending their application to now include organic usage on Tomato and Pepper plants as governed by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). This extension further affirms OmniLytics' pledge to deliver safe, natural solutions to the commercial and consumer markets.
