Changqing Hubei launches 5,000-ton acetochlor and metolachlor intermediates capacity extension

A few days ago, Changqing (Hubei) Biotechnology Co., Ltd announced an investment of RMB14.543 million yuan in an annual 5,000-ton 2-methyl-6-Ethylaniline capacity extension in the existing plant area. 

This is a response to market demand and the company's future development needs, thus expanding the company’s production capacity of pesticide intermediates.

Changqing (Hubei) Biotechnology Co., Ltd, located in Yaojiagang Chemical Industry Park, will implement the extension project. After the extension, the company will produce 5,000 tons of 2-methyl-6-ethylaniline products annually. 

The project will involve changing the annual 2,000-ton 2,6-Diisopropylaniline production line into either 2,000-ton 2,6-Diisopropylaniline or 5,000-ton 2-Methyl-6-ethylaniline production line, which will enable a common production run, allowing for flexible and efficient use of resources to meet the possible market demand. 

As a pesticide intermediate, 2-Methyl-6-ethylaniline is essential for the production of amide herbicides such as acetochlor and metolachlor. Meanwhile, 2,6-Diisopropylaniline is a key intermediate for the synthesis of the novel insecticide Diafenthiuron. 

This extension of the capacity of Changqing (Hubei) Biotechnology Co., Ltd will enhance the company’s competitiveness in the pesticide intermediate market, which will also help fulfill the market demand at home and abroad.

Founded in July 2019, Changqing (Hubei) Biotechnology Co., Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jiangsu Changqing Agrochemical Co., Ltd, China’s designated pesticide manufacturer. It is also a national high-tech enterprise focusing on the production of synthetic pesticides, pesticide intermediates, and various pesticide formulations, with a 10,000-ton production capacity of pesticide technical and formulations.
