The Danish biotech company Nordic Microbes presented its cold-tolerant microbial biostimulant SeedSpeed.
Used for seed treatment, the product releases phosphate and potassium bound in the soil and otherwise unavailable to plants.
According to the manufacturer, this release of nutrients helps the plants get a strong start to the growing season. It is compatible with most seed treatment machines and agricultural practices, but it should not be used in combination with chemical seed treatments.
SeedSpeed is produced in Denmark and contains a "carefully selected Danish microorganism," Nordic Microbes said. The product is free from GMOs and artificial chemicals, making it suitable for organic farming in accordance with (EU) 2018/484. It is registered as a biostimulant with the Danish Agricultural Agency under product number BS07.
"We continuously test SeedSpeed® at various external field-testing facilities, farmers, and in our settings to better understand the product's mode of action and limitations. We are very thorough in our field studies and always include untreated control groups as well as groups with chemical seed treatments," Nordic Microbes stated.
According to them, the "effectiveness of the product depends on field conditions, weather, and crop type. We observe improved germination and increased root growth in most of the crops we test and higher yields in some of the crops."
Nordic Microbes was born from a rebranding of the Danish company Bioomix about five months ago. According to them, the biotechnology company works for "a green transition in agriculture. Our vision is a future food production that is profitable and productive and, at the same time, good for our climate, nature, and health. We can achieve this by replacing pesticides and artificial fertilizers with effective biological solutions. Nordic Microbes develops and markets a new generation of products for agriculture, based on carefully selected, natural, and beneficial microorganisms."
