Milliken do Brasil presented its latest microplastic-free polymer technology for use in seed treatment operations at the Brazilian Seed Congress.
Milliken's new MPF (Microplastic-Free) solution will be integrated into the Milli Fusion product line. According to the U.S. materials science specialist company, "it improves seed performance through pigmentation."
"As awareness increases about the pollution caused by microplastics in the environment, the relevance of MPF (Microplastic-Free Polymers) is growing. We will take advantage of the event to show our commitment to practices that optimize the consumption of natural resources and offer these new solutions to the sector," said Ivan Francischini, Jr, Senior Account Manager at Milliken.
Milliken also presented other sustainable performance technologies at the fair. The company has solutions for coloring fertilizers and agricultural micro-encapsulation formulas, which help protect active ingredients for "more precise application."
"Milli Solum and Milli Fusion offer more flexibility to seed companies, both in adjusting properties and aesthetics. They are approved by the ABC Foundation, which is recognized throughout the country for its demanding and rigorous evaluation of products and technologies made available to the more than 5,000 farmers affiliated with partner Cooperatives, and the Syngenta Seedcare Institute, a technology and seed application development institute," Milliken stated.
Additionally, the technology has a solution that alters some physical characteristics of the soil so that water is better distributed and remains available to plant roots for longer, they added.
"It allows maintaining or even increasing yield with the use of less water and energy in cultivation, as it prevents loss through leaching and runoff. Several companies have other soil surfactants, but only Milliken has a different molecular structure, which allows for greater longevity, as its degradation by soil microorganisms occurs more slowly," Francischini said in conclusion.
