According to the information on the latest batch of pesticide products to be registered with the ICAMA of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, glufosinate is filed for the first time in China for application to GMO crops for weed control.
Since the announcement of registration of the first batch of GMO crop-oriented herbicidal products on March 29, 2024, China has been gradually moving towards the final step of legal use of GMO crop-oriented pesticides. In the previous registration announcements, the products involved included glyphosate products. In this 11th batch registration announcement, glufosinate products are filed for the first time in China for extended application to biological bred crops for weed control.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nantong CAC International, Jiangsu Suzhou Jiahui Chemical Co., Ltd already holds the registration of glufosinate 200g/L AS, which was originally registered for use in control of weeds in uncultivated land and banana orchard. This time, the product is filed for extended application to spring soybean field which contains glyphosate-resistant and glufosinate-resistant DBN9004 transformants.
