KRBL Limited, the world’s largest exporter of Basmati rice and a prominent supplier in India, has announced a precautionary recall of its popular product, India Gate Pure Basmati Rice Feast Rozzana Super Value Pack (10% Extra), from the market. The recall is being initiated due to non-conformance with pesticide regulations regarding two specific chemicals: Thiamethoxam and Isoprothiolane.
In an official statement, KRBL Limited informed that these pesticides were found to exceed the permissible limits set by regulatory authorities, prompting the voluntary recall as a precautionary measure. As per the official spokesperson of KRBL Limited, ″KRBL Limited has been a trusted company in the food industry for over two decades, consistently delivering the highest quality products to our consumers. The recalled stock was a single batch and was a result of a single-day packing. When alerted, we identified the batch, and recall was announced immediately. We also reinforced our internal due diligence processes to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
However, rice being an Agri commodity, pesticide control resides at the farm level and being leading company, we have been actively working with the farmers, govt & regulatory bodies to minimize pesticide usage via effective training and support programs for the farmer communities across all our sourcing territories.
At KRBL, industry best practices for processing, aging & packaging of our products are applied. This entire process doesn’t involve any chemical or pesticide usage across our factory. With robust protocols in place and a legacy built on trust, we remain dedicated to delivering premium products that meet the highest standards our consumers expect.″
