A few days ago, the environmental impact assessment for Chinese agrochemical company Inner Mongolia Liwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd's annual 3,000-ton Lambda-cyhalothrin project was made public on the local government's website.
According to the published information, the project is an expansion located in the plant area of Inner Mongolia Liwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd in Bayin Aobao Industrial Park, Alxa Economic and Technological Development Zone, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China.
The project's scale and content include setting up a new Lambda-cyhalothrin workshop in the existing m-Phenoxybenzaldehyde workshop to produce annually 3,000 tons of Lambda-cyhalothrin, 1,000 tons of hydrochloric acid (by-product), 500 tons of sodium sulfite (by-product), and 600 tons of sodium chloride (by-product).
Founded on April 16, 2014, Inner Mongolia Liwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd is a subsidiary of Guangdong Liwei Chemical Co., Ltd. Established in 1987, Guangdong Liwei Chemical Co., Ltd is a nationally designated pesticide technical concentrate (TC) producer engaged in research, development, production, sales, import, and export of pyrethroid pesticide technical materials and formulation products. The company owns Guangdong Liwei Import and Export Co., Ltd, Maoming Liqiang Chemical Co., Ltd, Inner Mongolia Liwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd, and Guangxi Liwei New Material Technology Co., Ltd, with products widely sold domestically and internationally. On the 2024 national pesticide sales top 100 list, released by the China Crop Protection Industry Association in May 2024, Guangdong Liwei Chemical Co., Ltd ranked 24th with sales of 3.189 billion yuan.
