During the 27th Summer Technology Show, Sumitomo Chemical introduced its ″Seed Protection″ platform, which features sustainable solutions for seed treatment and pest and disease control.
The platform’s major highlight is the fungicide, Plust FS, composed of Thiophanate-methyl and Fluazinam in a Concentrated Suspension for Seed Treatment (FS) formulation.
According to the agrochemical brand, the product is recommended for use on soybeans, corn, wheat, rice and beans.
In soybeans, Plust FS controls various pathogenic fungi, such as Cercospora kikuchii, Colletotrichum truncatum, Fusarium pallidoroseum, Phomopsis sojae, Rhizoctonia solani and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.
In corn, it is recommended for use against Fusarium moniliforme and Penicillium oxalicum, while in wheat, it controls serious diseases caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana and Pyricularia grisea.
Alongside Plust FS, Sumitomo Chemical's Seed Protection platform includes the insecticides, Inside FS (Clothianidin) and Maestro FS (Fipronil).
The platform also features the microbiological nematicide, Aveo EZ (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain PTA-4838).
Completing the seed treatment package presented by the company at the 27th Summer Technology Show are the mycorrhizas, EndoFuse FS and EndoMaxx.
These bio-rational products are based on four species of mycorrhizal fungi, which are Glomus mosseae, Glomus aggregatum, Glomus intraradices and Glomus etunicatum.
According to the manufacturer, these solutions aim to optimize soil fertilization, achieving greater longevity, health and sustainability.
Sumitomo Chemical said that the Seed Protection platform ″contributes to increased crop productivity.″
In addition to these technologies, the company showcased its major solution, the fungicide, Excalia Max (Inpyrfluxam; Tebuconazole), which offers ″maximum protection and versatility for soybean crop management.″
Excalia Max addresses the four main soybean diseases, which are Asian rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi), target spot (Corynespora cassiicola), leaf blight (Cercospora kikuchii) and brown spot (Septoria glycines).
Furthermore, the solution controls anomalies such as grain and seed rot and soybean stem breakage, which significantly affect crops.
The Summer Technology Show was organized by the ABC Foundation, one of Brazil's leading agribusiness research entities, and was specially covered by AgroPages.
″The event highlights the investment in research and development, as it is being held in the heart of one of the most technologically advanced regions of Brazilian agriculture, the birthplace of no-till farming. We could not be present without showcasing an efficient solution that offers broad protection for crops and achieve profitability for producers,″ said Anderson Cruz, Sumitomo Chemical’s Trade Marketing Coordinator.
