Biotrop introduced the biological insecticide Biokato during the Dinetec event (Business and Technology Day), which received special coverage from AgroPages.
The fair, which has been taking place for ten years in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, marks the beginning of the Brazilian agribusiness events calendar.
Biokato is a bioinsecticide formulated with a novel bacterium for agricultural use, Pseudomonas chlororaphis CCTB19.
The product is recommended against corn leafhopper (Dalbulus maidis) with multiple control mechanisms and has contact, ingestion, and tarsal absorption effects.
According to Biotrop, Biokato has a "highly stable formulation with a shelf life of nine months at room temperature (non-refrigerated)."
The manufacturer states it is an "excellent" biological insecticide recommended for integrated pest management (IPM), whether used alone or in combination with agrochemicals.
Biotrop told AgroPages that the opening of 2024 is an "opportune moment for prospecting new partners and business."
"At Dinetec, we presented our main technologies to start the year well. In 2023, the event generated around BRL3 billion, and the trend is for even larger deals this year," said Biotrop's marketing manager, Éderson Santos.
"We are present with our portfolio to contribute to the productivity and sustainability of agriculture and livestock," he added in an interview with AgroPages.
According to Santos, Biotrop's line of biological products meets various demands, whether in controlling diseases and pests or promoting plant growth.
"Biotrop has solutions for seed treatment, planting furrow, or foliar management."
Among the biopesticides, in addition to Biokato, he highlighted Biomagno, "effective against nematodes and fungi," and Bombardeiro, a multisite action product that "enhances the fungicidal effect."
"Our booth was filled with important information to increase farmers' knowledge and perception of biologicals. In addition, our technical team helped clarify doubts about the action of biological products and presented the latest releases," the manager said in conclusion.
