FMC exclusively announced, to AgroPages, the launch of its new insecticide, Ametista, in Paraguay. Comprising two pyrethroids (Zeta-Cypermethrin + Bifenthrin), the product is recommended for controlling bugs, especially during the colonization phase of these pests.
Agronomist César González, Commercial Manager at FMC in Paraguay, said that Ametista is an important alternative given the increasing pressure from this pest. "The fact that it introduces a new active ingredient to the market helps in alternating between different good options, allowing us to expand and reach producers appropriately," he stated.
According to González, Ametista has a "high knockdown effect and allows entry at the ideal time for pest control, compared to mixed products that are usually stricter at entry." He added that the product will be distributed in collaboration with the distributor, Casa do Agricultor, as part of FMC’s strategic alliances.
"Over the past five years, we have been making investments to incorporate innovations through our development work, and others are in the process of registration with the National Service of Quality and Sanitation of Plants and Seeds (Senave)," he noted, highlighting the planned launch of a new fungicide, as well as other insecticides and solutions in the biological line.
On the other hand, Matías Moreno, Product Manager of Insecticides and Fungicides at FMC Cono Sur, stressed the importance of introducing Ametista to the Paraguayan market, as it is characterized by better performance in pest control and has been proven for prolonged use in countries where it has been launched.
He said that it controls all species of bugs and makes a significant contribution to reducing pest populations during both the colonization phase and at the end of the crop. This technology can also be applied during reproductive phases when there could be high pressures, he added. "It is a very useful tool for integrated pest management," Moreno said.
Entomologist Stella Candia, Director of the Agronomic Consultant MAS, said the two pyrethroids in the Ametista formula reduce the pest population and prevent the presence of more bugs for the next planting.
