Acadian Plant Health (APH) has introduced bioactive compounds derived from the seaweed, Ascophyllum nodosum, in Brazil. Ricardo Dias, Head of Business at APH in Brazil and Paraguay, said extracts from the seaweed, Ascophyllum nodosum, "strengthen plant roots from crop establishment onwards."

According to Dias, the extracts stimulate root initiation, elongation and branching, leading to better plant establishment and higher water and nutrient absorption.
"Moreover, due to its proven effectiveness in adverse temperatures throughout growth, Ascophyllum nodosum also supports plant well-being and development, even in the face of the climatic challenges that Brazil has been facing," he stated.
Dias explained that the bioactivators and nutritional solutions offered by Acadian Plant Health are scientifically proven. Ascophyllum nodosum is common in intertidal zones with harsh conditions, sometimes submerged in the sea and exposed to dehydration at low tide. Consequently, it thrives well in extreme temperatures. These characteristics encourage plants to deploy survival mechanisms through bioactive compounds.
Acadian Plant Health said that the technological process ensures that these bioactive compounds are extracted in their purest and most active states. These resources are then "transferred" to crops, making them more resilient to abiotic stress, which is essential for Brazilian agricultural conditions.
"With a focus on sustainability, the productive sector increasingly seeks bioinputs that offer positive results for both plants and business profitability," Dias said in conclusion.
