Nortox has revealed exclusively to AgroPages the launch of the fungicide Scudeiro (Prothioconazole + Tebuconazole) in Brazil. According to the manufacturer, it is an "exclusive mixture, designed to be the best product for the first application in soybeans."
"We made all possible combinations among all groups of fungicides and concluded that the mixture of two triazoles was the best option for controlling target spot and rust without significant resistance risks," said Commercial Director João Marcos Ferrari.
"Nortox does not sell active ingredients. It sells solutions to farmers. Within this principle, we tested all possible combinations to arrive at the best product for the first soybean application," Ferrari asserted, adding that Nortox is the largest Brazilian manufacturer of agrochemicals.
Celio Hiroyuki Fudo, Product Development Manager, is also excited about the results: "The combination of the two best active ingredients - Prothioconazole and Tebuconazole - ensured control of Asian rust and showed excellent performance in controlling other soybean diseases."
"The various studies conducted by leading phytopathologists and studies conducted by our team confirmed the effectiveness and selectivity of Scudeiro," he emphasized.
Thiago Polles, Market Development Leader, highlighted the fact that Scudeiro is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide, registered for crops such as cotton, corn, wheat, barley, and sorghum, eliminating the need for adjuvant oil use.
Some of the primary diseases in crops like soybeans, cotton, corn, and wheat survive from one year to the next in the crop residue.
"Thus, there is a need for integrated management in controlling these diseases, such as target spot and Asian rust, which gain prominence in soybean cultivation due to the severity provided," Polles explained.
He noted that Scudeiro has a differentiated formulation: "Developed in 27 research institutions in Brazil and Cooperative Trials, Scudeiro has proven its efficiency in controlling diseases such as target spot and Asian rust, ensuring productivity and being selective for soybean cultivation."
Maicom Tumiate, Registration and Development Manager, emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture prioritized the product for being an exclusive and unprecedented composition (formulation) and also for having the synthesis of the technical product and formulation in Brazil.
In turn, Lucas Morais, Marketing Communication Coordinator, stated that the launch of Scudeiro follows the company's new communication positioning in the market.
Nortox, celebrating its 70th anniversary in April 2024, used to name its products after the most prominent active ingredient, combining the initials of the mixtures.
"As an exclusive mixture with a commercial name, Scudeiro Nortox also requires a new marketing strategy. This applies to it and other novelties that are on the way," Lucas Morais said in conclusion.
