Sipcam Nichino launches Torino fungicide for seed treatment in 5 crops

Sipcam Nichino Brasil has announced exclusively to AgroPages the launch of the Torino brand fungicide, with registration for seed treatment. 

According to the company, the new solution is recommended for application in the crops of irrigated rice, beans, corn, soybeans, and wheat. Formulated on the compounds fluazinam and thiophanate methyl, the fungicide works to eliminate seed fungi, protect plants from soil fungi, and improve the germination potential of crops, as highlighted by the company.

According to agronomist Vitor Cabral Araujo from the market development area, Torino is described as a systemic and contact fungicide with a broad spectrum of action. "When used following technical recommendations, the fungicide promotes better plant establishment (stand) in the field, and fosters increased productivity in the crops for which it is registered," he summarized.

According to the agronomist, it is also a strategic product as it protects the target crops from the incidence of economically relevant diseases. In soybeans, for example, Torino is recommended for controlling seed rot, phomopsis, purple spot, anthracnose, watery rot, and white mold. 

The recommended uses in corn and wheat are for blue mold and stalk rot and helmintosporiosis and blast, respectively. Anthracnose, damping off, storage fungus, stored grain rot, and white mold are targeted by Torino in beans. In irrigated rice, the prescriptions cover damping off, storage fungus, and grain spot.

"In addition to its systemic action, the new fungicide effectively acts on dormant fungi or 'mycelia' in the seeds. This prevents their development and hinders the emergence of plants," observes Vitor Cabral.

"With low investment compared to other treatments, Torino reduces the risks of soil contamination, protects seeds throughout the germination and emergence process, results in more vigorous plants that are more resistant to adverse environmental or climatic effects, and maximizes the productive potential of cultivation areas," he concludes.
