Mr. Sun Shubao, President of the China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA)
Mr. Sun Shubao remarked during the groundbreaking ceremony that the current uncertainties affecting the pesticide industry are rising. It is imperative to maintain stability in the agrochemical supply chain, which would contribute to the overall stability of the global agrochemical industry. The commencement of the UPL Jiangsu project will enhance the supply stability in the pesticide industry, marking a milestone for UPL and also contributing to the development of the Chinese pesticide industry, he said.
Mr. Yang Guoren, Deputy secretary of CPC working committee and Deputy director of administrative committee of Jiangsu Huai’an industrial park
Mr. Yang Guoren emphasized that the Huai'an Industrial Park, which hosts chemical projects, successfully passed the review led by the provincial government in May this year. The investment by UPL, one of the world’s top five agrochemical companies, holds great significance for Jiangsu Huai’an Industrial Park. It aligns perfectly with the park’s direction of chain development and refined growth. Furthermore, there is tremendous potential for future collaboration and promising prospects.
Mr. Sameer Tandon, Regional Director of Asia Pacific at UPL
Following the integration of resources with Yoloo in recent years, UPL has again invested in establishing a factory in China. These strategic moves underscore UPL’s long-term commitment to China. Mr. Sameer Tandon expressed that UPL has been deeply rooted in the Chinese market for decades. With this project, UPL aims for more profound development in China, fostering closer ties between two ancient civilizations - China and India. Regarding the project itself, UPL is not merely offering agrochemical products but also providing technical expertise and support. Particularly, through the construction and advancement of the UPL Jiangsu project, UPL seeks to play a more substantial role in the industry’s development. Mr. Sameer Tandon also underscored prioritizing safety, which will be implemented throughout the project’s construction. UPL is committed to an open approach, advancing open agriculture, open-mindedness, and open operations, delivering UPL’s technology, philosophy, and sustainability while creating value for the industry.
Mr. Devendra Gangwar, Head of Greater China at UPL
Mr. Devendra Gangwar stated that starting today, UPL will have its 49th factory globally. He emphasized that through the UPL Jiangsu project, UPL aims to maximize the reach of its products, services, and values to Chinese farmers. UPL plans to offer more products based on localized Chinese values and an understanding of the Chinese market. UPL Jiangsu will introduce more products and technologies from the NPP Biosolutions portfolio, continuously conveying UPL’s sustainable development principles to the industry and society.
As the world’s fifth-largest agrochemical company bearing the global responsibility for food security, UPL has been working closely with the Chinese pesticide industry peers from establishing its Shanghai office to integrating Yoloo and now the groundbreaking of the Huai’an factory. In the ongoing process of growth and expansion, UPL has consistently contributed to bringing stability to an uncertain industry, providing a wealth of solutions for the pesticide industry, and safeguarding global food security.
As the UPL Jiangsu project is completed and becomes a strategic business unit for UPL China, it will undoubtedly enable UPL China to better establish itself in China and serve the global market.
