XiteBio Technologies Inc. announced the registration of XiteBio® Vegi+ from Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
XiteBio® Vegi+ is a Phosphorus (P) solubilizing commercial bacterial inoculant specifically developed for horticultural crops like tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, etc. Powered by the worldwide patented bacteria Bacillus firmus, XiteBio® Vegi+ can be used in outdoor or field as well as greenhouse settings.
″Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) technology has the prospect to effectively revolutionize the way vegetables are produced. Over three years of research we have found that marketable vegetable quality/grade and quantity have been increased substantially″ says Dr. Manas Banerjee, CEO of XiteBio. ″Vegetables & horticultural market is a diversification of our business, it’s totally a new arena for a company like XiteBio that deals mainly with agronomic row crops. It’s tremendously exciting and it opens up a huge market both domestically and for export.″
Doug Tigges US Sales Manager at XiteBio is excited to see this regulated and proven product come to the US horticultural market. ″XiteBio® Vegi+ is a patented, tested, and easy to use PGPR. In the US vegetable market, it can help growers with nutrient and production efficiency in a sustainable manner,″ said Tigges.
″For growers in my region of Ontario, vegetable crops like tomatoes and cucumbers play an important role,″ says Eva Smuck a Sales Agronomist with XiteBio. ″Being able to offer a chemical free product that is certified organic in Canada that boosts yields & marketable grades for growers makes me proud to work for an agricultural biotech company like XiteBio.″
XiteBio® Vegi+ helps plants to uptake P by producing phosphatase enzymes that make it bioavailable to the plant. It also produces plant hormones that stimulate root growth & development. This technology allows vegetable growers to produce higher yields with marketable quality without increasing chemical inputs or land usage. XiteBio® Vegi+ is based on XiteBio's unique patented bacterial strain that vigorously colonizes plant roots and solubilizes soil-bound P for increased plant uptake. With very convenient application methods like drench at planting or in-furrow or spray, this kind of technology promotes sustainable practices while increasing ROI for vegetable growers.
