Chinese agrochemical company Lanfeng Biochemical announced the resumption of the production of its main products, thiophanate-methyl, surfactant and hexazinone.
Lanfeng Biochemical said the products have been brought back to full production, but its sulphur-burning sulphuric acid and waste heat power generation facilities are still under maintenance.
On May 31, 2023, considering the nature of its chemical production process and the operating cycle of its production equipment, Lanfeng Biochemical shut down its plant and began to overhaul its 400-kt/a sulphur-burning sulphuric acid and waste heat power generation facilities, to ensure the safe and stable operation of its production equipment. Due to this, the company’s thiophanate-methyl production plant (5,000 tons/year), surfactant production plant (5,000 tons/year), carbosulfan production plant (2,000 tons/year) and hexazinone production plant (1,000 tons/year) were shut down intermittently.
The company mainly produces four series of products, which are insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and fine chemical-based intermediates.
The company is China’s large pesticide manufacturer that uses phosgene as raw material, being the first in China to develop thiophanate-methyl, hexazinone and benomyl. The company’s phosgene products, carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl, have been sold in the market for more than 30 years. Its high-quality products have contributed considerably to agricultural harvesting, and its product brand has become a famous fungicide brand in the Chinese market.
