Albaugh announced to AgroPages the launch of its insecticide Afiado (acetamiprid + bifenthrin).
According to the company, the new solution transfers expressive results in the control of soybean bugs, pests considered difficult to manage throughout the harvest.
According to Albaugh, the new product's central characteristics are ″high shock power and long residual″, in addition to not unbalancing populations of mites and other natural enemies of bedbugs.
In addition, Afiado also acts with ″high efficiency″ on the whitefly.
″It is a cutting-edge solution that acts by contact, ingestion, and tarsal contact (walking over the plant after spraying)″, informs Albaugh.
"It also presents a new formulation, liquid, to the extent of the farmer's expectation, more modern, easier to dose, handle and apply, compared to products with the same composition sold on the market", says the company.
The solution, says Albaugh, avoids physical-chemical incompatibility problems, is odorless, and simplifies treatment logistics.
As part of the actions to launch the Afiado insecticide, Albaugh released results of studies involving the small green bug (Piezodorus guildini) and the brown bug (Euchistus heros), both highly complex in terms of handling the oilseed.
The tests covered evaluations from one to ten days after applying Afiado and other insecticides (1 DAA to 10 DAA), with intervals of 4 DAA and 7 DAA.
In the case of the green bug, Albaugh's treatment delivered control efficacy of 70% to 87.5%, compared to a maximum of 85% of the standard treatment.
In relation to the brown bug, the management program with Afiado controlled 68% to 80% of the population, against 75% of the standard.
According to Albaugh, the launch of Afiado ″meets a relevant and strategic need for the producer″.
″Bed bugs are among the most damaging potential pests to oilseeds. It is a silent insect, which must be monitored from the beginning of cultivation. When damage appears, especially in soybean pods, the grains do not develop. Losses can exceed 30% of production″, says Albaugh.
Also according to the company, the association between Afiado and another insecticide technology from the company, called Krypto (Methomyl + Bifenthrin), ″considerably enhances the results of the oleaginous producer in the control of bedbugs and caterpillars″.
