Corteva Agriscience presented the results of using the active ingredient Arylex Active to control resistant and tolerant weeds, at SIMAL World 2023.
Held in the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu this week, the event was called ″The largest in the Americas on weed control″ and received special coverage by AgroPages.
At SIMAL World 2023, agronomist and Corteva researcher Gustavo Cantero gave the lecture ″Arylex Active as a tool for controlling resistant and tolerant weeds in Latin America″.
″Over the last decade, the resistance of weeds to various active ingredients that make up crop protection solutions has increased, making control difficult and severely impacting crop costs,″ the specialist said.
The horseweed is one of the invaders that most suffered this mutation, making it difficult for herbicides to work, Cantero explained.
″Corteva developed Arylex Active, the active ingredient in the Paxeo herbicide, which brought important and very consistent results,″ he added.
In the presentation, he highlighted the ″benefits and differentials of the solution so that producers can have a productive result in their farming.″
Paxeo® belongs to the new family of products for desiccating soybeans, with residual action and long-lasting control of various broad and narrow leaf weeds, without antagonism with graminicides.
Effective control can be exercised with the application in the pre-sowing for the control of weeds in pre- or post-emergence.
After application, the leaves and roots absorb the herbicide and its main route of translocation is the phloem, allowing the herbicide to act on the root system and the growth points of weeds.
″With Paxeo®, we are giving peace of mind in controlling horseweed and other resistant and tolerant species,″ Cantero argued.
″In addition to the good performance of this molecule because there are no reports of rapid necrosis, it has other advantages such as an exclusive action site and difference from other auxins, a seven-day interval in clayey soils between application and planting, absence of antagonism with graminicides and volatility ultra-low at the time of application, even in adverse conditions, such as drought,″ he said in conclusion.
