According to a circular published in the Official Gazette on 15th August 2011, Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) announced the closure of reviewing of anti-dumping duty for herbicide glyphosate imported from China by receiving withdraw petition from the petitioner, Monsanto do Brazil Ltda, a subsidiary of Monsanto. The review was requested by Monsanto do Brazil Ltda in May, as they deemed that the anti-dumping duty applied to imports is no longer sufficient to counteract dumping. A spokesman of Monsanto said they dropped the review request was considering the uncertainty of the global economy and the unpredictable behavior of the international market in the near future.
The duty, applied on 8th June, 2010, which was adjusted to a fixed fee of $2.52/kg, and no fee for any import with an average price above $3.60/kg will remain in force until 3rd February, 2014.
