Syngenta introduced Exployo Vit ((E,Z)-7,9-dodecadien-1-yl acetate) to the Portuguese market, as its first sprayable pheromone to be launched in Portugal for controlling Lobesia botrana.
The novelty was presented at the ″Campus Syngenta 2023,″ a training day for technicians and distributors of the company’s points of sale and cooperatives, which was held in the coastal city of Aveiro.
Exployo Vit is a synthesis pheromone, which is used in the sexual confusion method and belongs to the chemical group, SCLP.
It is also intended to be used under the Biological Production Mode to discourage mating by affecting the environment and making it difficult for males to locate females, therefore, preventing reproduction.
In addition to the pheromone, the new Syngenta anti-mildew, Orondis Ultra, based on the new active substances, oxathiapiproline and mandipropamide, was also showcased.
According to the multinational, the product is effective in protecting vines during the various stages of development of fungus at extremely low doses (20g/hectare).
Paulo Machado
Paulo Machado, commercial director of Syngenta in Portugal and Galicia, warned that ″it is fundamental to ensure the appropriate use of and make the correct recommendations for active substances, so we can continue to have phytopharmaceutical products with a high level of effectiveness.″
Out of a total of 958 active substances reassessed in the European Union (EU), two-thirds were banned and only 315 were authorized to protect crops from pests, diseases and weeds, he added.
Regarding vines, which represents 24% of Syngenta's sales in Portugal, the company said that it has a portfolio "complete with innovative, effective and sustainable solutions."
Mário Casimiro
″As technicians, we have to be agents of change and train farmers on the proper use of the new generation of more technological and efficient products,″ said Mário Casimiro, Technician Manager of Syngenta's Distributor Account in Beira Interior, Beira Litoral, Oeste and Azores.
The company also presented, to its distributors and second channel, a fungicides for vines, Recatium, a systemic product based on spiroxamine for controlling powdery mildew.
On the occasion, Zosty Triple, a systemic and surface antimildew based on fosetyl aluminum, folpet, and cymoxanil, was also presented.
