International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) announced the launch of the antimicrobial additive, FermaSure XL, in the Brazilian market.
Distribution will be done through a strategic partnership with Grupo Drul, which has been the brand's distributor in Brazil since February 2023.
FermaSure XL is an antimicrobial fermentation additive that rapidly attacks and kills harmful bacteria, allowing sugarcane ethanol producers to increase processing rates and efficiency.
Being an aqueous solution of sodium chlorite, FermaSure XL is suitable for the production of ethanol from sugar or grain substrates, controlling bacterial contamination and producing lactic and acetic acid.
″With the new partnership, we affirm IFF's strategic commitment to offer an even greater level of customer service, serving, with efficiency, quality and flexibility, the sugar and alcohol sector of Brazil, which is the largest producer of sugarcane ethanol in the world,″ said Mario Cacho (Director of Grain Processing for Latin America at IFF).
According to Cacho, FermaSure XL is a solution that ″meets multiple demands. It prevents bacterial contamination during fermentation, which helps to optimize the production process and increase ethanol yields; and contributes to antibiotic-free co-products, a strategy increasingly adopted by the industry to complement the profitability of crops.″
″At the same time, the alliance with Drul will help us to improve our services in the country and provide even more integrated support to customers,″ he added.
Since 2018, Drul has progressively advanced in the Brazilian sugar-energy market, with a commitment to delivering effective and high-performance solutions.
In addition to the production and distribution of chemical solutions, the Drul group now has an agriscience and nanotechnology company focused on plant nutrition, BioRhiza; a logistics and cargo transportation company, Decoli Cargo; and Kleek, which offers diagnostics and operational advice involving the production processes of sugarcane mills.
Guilherme Moroço (CEO and Founder of Grupo Drul) said that he will ″optimize the distribution logistics of FermaSure XL″ in the interior of the state of São Paulo, one of the largest centers of the sugar-energy sector in Brazil.
″Drul also has a unit in the Northeast Region, which guarantees even more efficient logistics for supplying cities in the North and Northeast of the country,″ he added.
