In recent years, much of rice crop has been damaged in southern rice-planted regions in China due to pest infestation such as plant hoppers, stem borer and leaf roller. Moreover, resistance developed by the insects has incurred more and more sprays of insecticide on the crop. As an efficient and convenient way in solving the problems, chemical insecticides accounted most of the crop protection products in rice market.
In recent three years, the Chinese competent authority, the ICAMA, has granted 2,800 approvals to applicants, consisting of 439 provisional registrations and 2,362 full registrations. From formulation prospect, these approvals including 1,893 single component products and 947 mixture products.
From view of the active ingredients, the classical products are continuing their domination roles. Some of the traditional ingredients such as chlorpyrifos, abamectin, emamectin benzoate, fenobucarb, thiosultap-monosodium were most used on the above paddy insecticide products.
