Yara launched the new range of OPTI biostimulants in Portugal in March, at two events with its distributors.
This range comprises YaraVita OPTITRAC, YaraVita OPTINUE and YaraVita OPTIMARIS products.
According to the company, YaraVita OPTITRAC was a foliar biostimulant created from bioactive compounds extracted from the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum supplemented with micronutrients such as boron and zinc. The product improved vegetative development and stimulates flowering and fruiting, providing greater profitability by obtaining higher yields and better quality.
YaraVita OPTINUE was a biostimulant suitable for fertirrigation, which improved soil conditions and the development of crop roots, according to Yara. The formulation of this product was composed of a mixture of nutrients, humic and fulvic acids and micronized Leonardite humin.
YaraVita OPTIMARIS was authorized for use in organic and biodynamic agriculture. The company stated that it was a biostimulant for foliar application, with a high concentration of bioactive compounds extracted from the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum that promoted the balanced growth of plants and the development of fruits.
Yara mentioned that in Portugal there was a need to provide the market with biostimulants that would reinforce the action of more traditional fertilizers, helping crops to overcome abiotic stress and that these three new products activate the natural mechanisms of plants: they improve the efficient use of nutrients and act on specific processes of crop metabolism.
″Both improved plant growth and tolerance to abiotic stress help plants remain vigorous in adverse growing conditions, so that the farmer can generate better yields and quality. In addition to its many benefits, this biostimulant contains seaweed extracts,″ the company said.
The OPTI range was presented to technicians and farmers in various parts of Portugal at events organized in collaboration with Yara distributors in Portugal: Cadubal, Campoeste and J. Sobral. Speakers at the events included Carlos Martín, Biostimulants Development Specialist at Yara Iberian, and Luis Palma Silva, Sales Representative at Yara Iberian in Portugal.
