Canada’s Soilgenic Technologies LLC has launched a new formulation containing a higher percentage of the urease inhibitor NBPT, which slows the conversion of surface-applied urea to ammonia reducing nitrogen losses.
Visio-N Supra contains 40% NBPT. ″Historically, NBPT has been available as a 26.6% formulation,″ says Soilgenic. The company is looking to expand the use of NBPT through reduced cost efficiencies from the higher concentration.
″The development of the Visio-N Supra 40% NBPT formulation sets a new standard for enhanced efficiency technology for concentrated urease inhibitor technology. A high concentration formula combined with the ability to coat evenly at low application rates is critical, especially at low temperatures,″ explained Jeff Ivan, President & CEO Soilgenic Technologies, LLC.
″Testing of our 40% formulation showed excellent coverage down to -20C (-4F), where other technologies will gel around 0C (32F),″ he added.
In April 2022, the Soilgenic R&D team announced that it had patented an enhanced DCD technology – NitroBlock Enhanced DCD – that the company says significantly improves below-ground loss of nitrogen from leaching and denitrification.
