The agrochemical multinational, Albaugh, exclusively revealed, to AgroPages, the launch of its new insecticide, Krypto (Methomyl + Bifenthrin).
The product is recommended for use in controlling corn leafhopper (Dalbulus maidis), a pest that has exerted considerable pressure during every corn harvest, especially in the off-season or the second harvest in Brazil.
According to the company, the new solution is already available for application and also effectively controls caterpillars and stink bugs that infest crops, including the potentially harmful Dichelops melacanthus.
According to Albaugh, the advantages of the insecticide are mainly based on its formulation, which, according to the company, was developed for the conditions of Brazilian agriculture.
″It is an innovative product, which offers producers a high level of control against the corn leafhopper,″ said agronomist Daniel D’Andrea (Director of Marketing and Development at Albaugh).
He also pointed out that the corn leafhopper is a pest that transmits economically damaging diseases, such as pale stunting, red stunting and fine-ray virus disease.
According to consultants, it action causes the emergence of unproductive ears that are smaller than usual, mainly due to the lower absorption of nutrients by plants.
According to researchers, Dalbulus maidis can cause damage that leads to the total loss of a crop.
Among the features of Krypto, Albaugh mentions the ″powerful shock effect″ of the insecticide against corn leafhopper, ″with high efficacy against nymphs and adults.″
Krypto ″has two modes of action that control the main corn pests together,″ the company added, noting that the insecticide is a modern alternative, with a liquid formulation and no bad smell compared to traditional acephate.
Albaugh is based in Brazil, with its headquarters located in São Paulo, and has 13 regional sales offices.
The company produces and markets more than 50 agrochemicals suitable for major crops, such as soy, corn, cotton, citrus, coffee, sugar cane, wheat and beans.
