The trading company, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and Koppert Biological Systems (Koppert) began a partnership to sell and encourage the use of biological inputs in Brazil.
LDC's goal is to ensure that biologicals marketed by the company in the country will account for 8% of total pesticides by 2027. The company’s entire input operation is integrated into the grain and oilseed origination structure, which will help it achieve this goal.
The strategy also aims to broaden the transition to low-carbon value chains.
According to Koppert, the sector should grow 300% by 2030, reaching a total market value of US$1.8 billion in the country and US$23 billion worldwide. LCD will transfer inputs through direct sales or bartering, which is the exchange of products for grains.
The biologicals will be first offered in the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás, followed by other regions.
″It is a fundamental initiative to strengthen our commitment to providing more complete and diversified solutions. LDC has been selling inputs in the country since 2011, with pesticides representing around 10% of these sales,″ said Bruno Andrade, Commercial Director of Inputs at LDC in Brazil.
The 4th Biopesticides, Biostimulants and Novel Fertilizers International Summit (BioEx 2023) will take place on 9th & 10th March in Hangzhou, China. We are pleased to invite speakers from the commercial, research, extension, government, regulatory and farming sectors to submit your proposals and abstracts for oral presentations.
