Acadian Plant Health™, a leading global provider of innovative, sustainable crop care solutions, has earned the designation of Top Climate-Smart Company for the proven impact of its seaweed extract-based biostimulant products in helping ensure sustainable agriculture.
In its 2022 list of Top 7 Climate-Smart Companies released this fall, Germination selected names from across the seed industry that, through innovation, practices, and products, have demonstrated their impact on mitigating the effects of climate change.
In addition to the Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed extract product itself, Germination noted Acadian’s production processes and holistic commitment as an organization to operate sustainably as a significant aspect of the selection.
This includes harvesting raw material with tools that are gentle on the ecosystem. This, together with Acadian’s innovative resource-management system, has helped its seaweed stock stay healthier and more plentiful now than 30 years ago when the product first entered the market.
″Agriculture production is highly stressed by climate change, and we anticipate demand for biostimulants to steadily increase,″ says James Maude, Senior Vice President at Acadian Plant Health. ″We’ve been working for a long time to ensure we can produce at scale and continually regenerate the resource to prevent overexploitation. It’s an honour and a validation of our efforts that Germination has nominated us as a Top Climate-Smart company.″
″The extract itself is well-known to help with crop stressors and improve soil health,″ said Maude. ″We’re confident in the role we can continue to play in helping farmers around the world achieve performance and sustainability in the field while contributing to mitigating the impacts of climate change.″
Acadian Plant Health appears alongside six other industry standouts in Germination’s Top 7 Climate-Smart Companies released in October 2022.
