Chinese agrochemical company Limin Group announced on June 14 that Veyong Biochemical, a company subsidiary, has entered into a technical transfer agreement with the research team of the Biological Engineering Institute of Zhejiang University of Technology.
Through the agreement, Veyong Biochemical is assigned the technology of the Biological Engineering Institute of Zhejiang University of Technology to build an L-glufosinate production facility. At the same time, the Biological Engineering Institute of Zhejiang University of Technology will provide a whole course technical service covering the production process based on biological synthesis.
Through synthetic biology and enzyme catalysis technology, the D-isomer in glufosinate is converted efficiently into L-glufosinate of high optical purity, enabling seamless integration of gas-phase continuous chemical synthesis with biosynthesis technology. The process is green and efficient running, which matches the glufosinate technical process of the company, with a high degree of specificity and compatibility. The industrialized running of the process will lead to a considerable reduction of raw material carbon emission, which is a significant contribution to China’s “pesticide-use reduction and efficiency increase” initiative.
