With the aim of offering a better and more complete service to its current associated companies, as well as to future associates interested in plant nutrition, the Spanish Association of Plant Protection Products and Environmental Health (Asociación Española de Fitosanitarios y Sanidad Ambiental - AEFISA) has modified its Statutes incorporating fertilizer products in its scope of Acting.
Through the modification of the Statutes approved by two Extraordinary General Assemblies of Members, its name has been changed, which i s now ASOCIACIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE FERTILIZANTES, FITOSANITARIOS Y SANIDAD AMBIENTAL (Spanish Association of Fertilizers, Plant Protection Products and Environmental Health), keeping the acronym AEFISA.
In this way, it incorporates all lines of fertilizer products, included in both European and Spanish national legislation (inorganic, organic, biostimulants, amendments, substrates, inhibitors and their mixtures), thus globally covering the needs of associate companies in these areas, thus covering all the product lines of the wide range offered by their associates in their catalogues for the agricultural sector. All this, in line with the Circular Economy Strategy and Circular Spain 2030, which are interrelated with sustainability and whose objective is that value of products, materials and resources is maintained in the economy for as long as possible, minimizing the generation of waste, reducing the consumption of materials and the emission of greenhouse gases; increase the reuse and preparation for reuse of materials and improve the efficiency in the use of water.
Likewise, considering that practically since the beginning of agriculture, man has tried to use the means, natural or chemical, that he has found within his reach to maintain the health of the crops, AEFISA incorporates all the existing lines of plant protection products, both of biological origin (plant extracts, microorganisms, etc.) as well as chemical and other means of plant defences, aimed at conventional agriculture, integrated agriculture and organic farming within its scope of action. This is in line with national and European policies in the search for alternatives with the European Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy, which aim to evolve the current EU food system towards a more sustainable model, take advantage of new opportunities and create a strong and resilient food system, keeping in mind that food security and food safety are priorities.
AEFISA will also continue to support associates in order to meet the needs of companies in relation to the authorization of biocidal products.
With this, AEFISA advances towards covering the present and future needs of its associates, both in plant nutrition, plant protection and biocides, in line with the demands of society in terms of food, health and the environment, thus becoming the first Spanish national association to offer a global service to the agricultural input industry.
In the words of the President of AEFISA, Mr. Jacobo López Catalán, "all of this provides greater quality, a degree of differentiation and offers greater added value to the services that AEFISA provides and will continue to provide to its associates"
