In 2022 the database software IUCLID became a mandatory requirement for the successful registration of both conventional and biological plant protection products (PPP), and European registration holders have needed to adapt to prepare IUCLID dossiers for submission, evaluation and successful product registration.
The technological software developments in Europe have meant that agrochemical projects now include critical activities such as strategic creation of dataset structures for active substances and products; database implementation of study reports, production of robust OECD study summaries, key endpoint identification including metadata and justifications for confidentially relevant documents.
For both plant protection and biocidal product registration holding companies, the experience gained via product registration under European regulations that govern biocidal products, registration, classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals, has resulted in IUCLID dossier projects being the corner stones to adapting successfully to the compulsory change and the new challenges required to navigate the development of IUCLID dossiers for PPP.
With the addition to the use of IUCLID functionality, scientific and regulatory service companies, such as LKC, remain a valuable asset which benefit global specialty chemical and biochemical manufacturers to continue to expand their product portfolio to deliver the vital tools to overcome pests which jeopardise food production and to continue the key support to the European food producers of the future.
