China's pesticides imports up 17% in Q1 2011

According to the customs, the value of Chinese imports of pesticides in the first quarter 2011 was $150 million, up 17.31%, year on year. The import volume was 16,000 tons, down by 4.05%. Average import price was quoted at $ 9,147 per ton.
For insecticides, total imported value was $ 38.31 million, up by 11.43% year on year and the volume was 1,944 tons, down by 7.84%. The three largest sources of import, US, Korea and Hong Kong, each exported 432 tons, 416 tons and 295 tons of insecticides to China at growth rate of 47.41%, 251.91%, 16.18%, and the trade value were $15.09 million, $1.79 million and $38.31 million.
For fungicide category, the top four import sources were Germany, France, Japan and UK. The four exporters each sold 675 tons, 495 tons, 402 tons and 395 tons of the products and the value were $5.69 million, $7.42 million, $6.67 million and $7.58 million.
For herbicides, 4,329 tons of the products valued at $31.88 million were imported. Top 3 sources, Malaysia, Germany and Indonesia, each exported 3,444 tons, 1,092 tons and 1,068 tons to China at amount of $ 9.83 million, $20.71 million and $ 48.41 million.
