Auriga unveils banana fungicide
Date:06-10-2011
Danish agrochemical group Auriga Industries A/S announced it had developed a new application of its product named Impact to fight fungi in banana plantations.
Cheminova, part of Auriga, will sell the fungicide in Brazil. The group foresees a double-digit million revenue in Danish crowns from fungicides in bananas, while the market for banana crop protection is estimated at USD200m.
Cheminova is now trying to get flutriafol, the active ingredient in Impact, registered for use in bananas in the most important markets.
Flutriafol is regarded as the standard in the world's currently most devastating arable crop disease -- Asian soybean rust in Brazil, Auriga said.
