An unprecedented technology of inoculants for silage has just arrived in Brazil through the Magniva line, marketed by Biogénesis Bagó.
The Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) and Lallemand Animal Nutrition, selected a new strain of heterolactic bacteria – L. hilgardii CNCM I-4785, which was combined with the already known L. buchneri NCIMB 40788 – giving rise to innovation for silage inoculation.
According to the manufacturer, the development of this new technology came to overcome the unpredictability of the Brazilian climate. Allied to this is the need to improve the silage quality and have more control over costs, achieving aerobic stability more quickly and reducing dry matter losses in fermentation.
“We started the development process in 2009 until we arrived at an unprecedented combination of bacteria that ensure stable, high-quality food, consistently year after year and with a high potential for ingestion. This ensures a balanced diet for beef and dairy cattle, helping the producer control their quality and production costs. It is a launch that will revolutionize the market of inoculants for silage in Brazil,” highlighted the Executive Director of Lallemand Animal Nutrition South America, Paulo Soeiro.
The new technology is already being used successfully in Australia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, and Italy. Marketing of the technology is starting in Brazil, Germany, France, and Japan.
Manager of Silage Inoculants Products at Lallemand Animal Nutrition, Rafael Amaral, commented, “The Magniva line brought flexibility in silage production, as the solutions allowed us to specifically target each customers' needs, in addition to bringing the innovative combination of L. hilgardii CNCM I-4785 with L. buchneri NCIMB 40788. It allowed the silage to be opened after only 15 days of fermentation and with guaranteed aerobic stability.”
The Country Manager of Biogénesis Bagó Brasil, Marcelo Bulman, pointed out, “In the search for new business models and innovations, Biogénesis Bagó and Lallemand Animal Nutrition merged their teams, forming a strong selection. They brought to the market all the knowledge of areas of animal health and nutrition and with tools that help the Brazilian cattle raiser to produce more and better, in addition to increasing the profitability of our reseller partners and agricultural cooperatives.”
