HELM Argentina signed an agreement with the company Terragene to develop and commercialize products with microorganisms and intelligent biomolecules for crop protection.
The products are bio-inputs with Protergium technology, which act by activating the plant's natural mechanisms against diseases and pests without generating waste and reducing carbon emissions.
The first product resulting from this alliance is Innobio Protergium, a seed treatment composed of a consortium of a bacterium and a more inoculant (Bacillus velezensis and Trichoderma harzianum) (Bradyrhizobium japonicum), the only one on the market.
According to the manufacturer, the product will be available from the next 2021 soybean harvest, after four years of development and more than 60 demonstrations in the field, and it is expected to continue with the development of similar solutions for other crops.
“Our goal is to provide the agricultural producer with innovative and effective solutions that guarantee the performance of his production and at the same time contribute to the care of the environment,” said Mauro Edalian, general manager of HELM Argentina.
According to him, “HELM Argentina leads the crop protection products segment and guarantees the discovery of new active ingredients. The incorporation of biological inputs into our portfolio is a clear example of the firm commitment to the search for innovative and sustainable solutions that we have pursued for 120 years.”
Adrián Rovetto, creator of Protergium and vice president of Terragene, said, “This alliance with HELM is part of the innovation strategy and the commitment to develop effective and sustainable biotechnological tools applied to revolutionize the forms of crop management and produces food.”
According to him, Terragene, the creator of the Protergium brand, will invest US$6 million by 2022. “In short, the agreement promotes the development in Argentina, and globally, of intelligent and 100% environmentally friendly biomolecules for the control of pests and diseases in crops.”
