Act No. 19 of the Department of Plant Protection and Agricultural Defense Secretariat Agricultural Inputs, published on April 13th, in the Official Gazette, announced the 39 generic crop protection products, also classified as formulated products, that can be used by farmers. Among the registered products, 14 are considered to be “low impact.”
Of the products registered, four are based on microorganisms, such as Beauveria bassiana, Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus velezensis, and Bacillus subtilis, which are microbiological control agents against pests that attack Brazilian crops.
Another five are hormones and baculovirus, and five more are products registered for organic agriculture, which are based on Diatomaceous earth, Beauveria bassiana, Bacillus and Baculovirus.
The five phytosanitary products approved for organic agriculture were registered in line with the Reference Specification (ER), and can be used on any crop affected by biological targets. They are also indicated for use on both organic and conventional crops.
Low-impact products, in addition to being efficient from an agronomic point of view, have little or no impact on human health and the environment, and their use is increasing in Brazilian agricultural production.
All products registered this time are generic, meaning that they use active ingredients previously registered in the country. "The new registrations are important, because they decrease the concentration of the pesticide market and increase competition, resulting in fairer trade and lower production costs for Brazilian agriculture," explained Bruno Breitenbach, General Coordinator of Pesticides and Related Products at Mapa.
Nine registered products include at least one insufficient phytosanitary support culture (CSFI), with an emphasis on two products, with one based on mancozeb and the other based on difenoconazole. Both obtained a record already containing 21 CSFIs.
