In March 2021, the environmental impact assessment related to the fine chemical production and circular demonstration project of Chinese Guang'an Lier Chemical was published for the first time.
In order to establish a circular industry chain and reduce environmental risks caused by liquid chlorine storage and transportation, the project is designed to use chlorine gas generated from sodium chloride and purchased yellow phosphorus as base materials. Through the synthesis and consumption of phosphorus trichloride, the project will be capable of producing 1,000 tons of MDPE, 5,000 tons of phosphorus oxychloride, 18,000 tons of acetal, and 20,000 tons of MPE annually. It will also cover 5,000 tons of CEMPP, 5,000 tons of HMPPA (zinc), 1,200 tons of difluoronitrobenzene and 500 tons of difluoroaniline, totaling 24 fine chemical products at a production capacity of 95,700 tons.
The main by-product, sodium chloride, will be used in a salt utilization program, enabling the cocirculation of chlorine elements.
The project, which is located in Xinqiao Industrial Park in the Guang'an Economic and Technological Development Zone, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province in China, is regarded as an extension project, requiring an investment of Yuan3 billion.
