The seed treating agent, oligosaccharins 1%+ bifenthrin 10%+ clothianidin 25%, filed by Hainan Zhengye Zhongnong High-Tech Co., Ltd was granted registration for prevention and control of peanut grub and viral diseases on March 30, according to China Pesticide Registration Watch.
This is the first registration of the bifenthrin seed treating agent in China, as well as the first registration of oligosaccharins and bifenthrin for application on peanuts.
Pyrethroids pesticide is used less frequently for seed treatment, due to its contact toxicity and stomach toxicity but without systemicity and fumigation action. Up until March 30, 2021, a total of 12 pyrethroids-containing seed treating agents are still valid in China. These are registered for application to four crops (wheat, corn, peanut and cabbage), mainly for control of soil insects.
