Frisia Cooperativa Agroindustrial and Sementes Batavo inaugurated, on March 24th, the largest Seed Analysis Laboratory (LAS) in Paraná.
Located in Ponta Grossa, the LAS has an area of 600 m² and will be officially presented during Friesland Field Night.
The new LAS will be accredited to analyze soybeans, wheat, corn, beans, oats, barley, ryegrass, triticale and sorghum for Sementes Batavo and other customers in Brazil and the rest of the region. With six seed analysts and five laboratory assistants, the site will have the capacity to analyze 10,000 samples per year, with an expected expansion to 20,000.
It will also support seed production areas by conducting quality control tests. According to Luiz Henrique Deschamps, Agronomist and Production Coordinator at Sementes Batavo, the unit has complete traceability throughout the seed production process, such as planting, harvesting, receiving, processing and bagging.
“The analysis process is rigorous, to guarantee the quality of seeds that reach farmers, especially as nowadays, seeds have a high added value in the adoption of new biotechnologies,” Deschamps said.
The site will have a sample reception and protocol area, a homogenization room, sample preparation room, a germination room, germination room, two sand germination chambers, a seed analysis area and a file room with the capacity to store 20,000 samples, the largest in Paraná.
