According to a report issued by China's agrochemical company Xingfa Group in January 2020, its wholly owned subsidiary Taisheng initiated construction of a glyphosate continuous dealcoholization and hydrolysis process in order to solve the problems of low production efficiency, high energy consumption, large equipment investment, various potential safety hazards, significant quality fluctuation and the low level of automation existing in the glyphosate dealcoholization process. Through the technical upgrade, Taisheng is expecting to eliminate safety risks and further improve the product quality as well as to increase the capacity of production.
It is reported that Taisheng currently owns nine glyphosate production lines. Due to the restraints of equipment and facilities, control methods and staff operation discrepancies, only intermittent production process is currently used for production of glyphosate. On the other side, the continuous dealcoholization process has the advantages of continuous and automated running, being energy saving, environment-friendly and highly safe. The construction of the continuous dealcoholization and hydrolysis process falls in line with the company's green and efficient development objective.
The investment on the upgrade is estimated to be about Yuan3.2 million, aiming to explore and verify the feasibility of continuous dealcoholization via pilot run. After the completion of the upgrade, it is estimated that the capacity of dealcoholization will increased by 10% and the dealcoholization unit steam consumption will reduced by 5%.
So far, the upgrade has gone through the low-temperature related equipment installation and commissioning. The high-temperature related equipment installation will be carried out at downtime.
