Australia to approve Syngenta’s Reflex Herbicide

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed to approve Syngenta’s Reflex Herbicide which contains a new active ingredient - fomesafen.

Reflex Herbicide will be approved for the control of a range of broadleaf weeds when applied prior to sowing or post-sowing, pre-emergence in chickpeas, lupins, lentils, field peas, faba beans and vetch.

According to the company, with fast, effective and long-lasting residual activity, Reflex offers pre- and post-emergence management of difficult weeds such as glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth and ALS-resistant pigweed, grass and sedges. Reflex can be used on a wide range of crops, including cotton, dry beans, snap beans, potatoes and soybeans.

Public comments to this proposal will be closed on 24 February 2021.
