Farms in Ukraine's southern regions have already begun sowing spring cereals and legumes, covering an area of 113,300 hectares (65 thousand hectares by this time last year), including with wheat on 0.2 thousand hectares, barley on 85.4 thousand hectares, oats on 5.4 thousand hectares, and peas on 21.3 thousand hectares, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food.
Agricultural enterprises of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea have sown 37 thousand hectares (54% of the forecast), Odesa region 45 thousand hectares (15%), Kherson 17.9 thousand hectares (10%) and Mykolayiv region 13.4 thousand hectares (7%).
Winter crops have been fed on an area of 3.9 million hectares, or 48% of the forecast (last year 1.9 million hectares), including wheat on 3.2 million hectares (48% of forecast) and barley on 0.7 million hectares (54%). Rye feeding also started, having been held on an area of 60 thousand hectares (21% of forecast).
As of March 17, a total of 93.9% of the acreage under winter grain was in good and satisfactory condition.
